Privacy Notice

Privacy at a glance: Browser Trust Guard performs its core page analysis on your device. Online link checks occur only for a link you deliberately hover. We do not sell personal information, use browsing activity for advertising, or build a profile of the websites you visit.

This Privacy Notice explains how Browser Trust Guard ("Browser Trust Guard," "we," "us," or "our") processes information when you use the Browser Trust Guard extension, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). It also explains the choices and rights that may be available to you.

1. Scope of This Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice applies to information processed through the Services. It does not govern a third-party website merely because Browser Trust Guard analyzes that website locally or displays a warning about it. Third-party websites and service providers are responsible for their own privacy practices.

2. Information Processed on Your Device

To identify deceptive links, fake security interfaces, misleading prompts, and dangerous instructions, the extension analyzes visible page text, visible link labels, and link destinations on your device. This core analysis occurs locally and is not transmitted to Browser Trust Guard.

The extension is not designed to read passwords, payment details, private messages, or other values entered into form fields. Browser Trust Guard does not use locally analyzed page content to create a browsing-history profile.

Extension Watchdog reads the names, versions, install sources, and permissions of your other installed browser extensions to alert you when one gains access to every website or to sensitive browser data. This list and its history are stored only on your device and are never sent to Browser Trust Guard or any service provider. The watchdog turns an extension off only when you choose to.

3. Information Stored on Your Device

The extension stores limited information in browser-managed storage so it can remember your settings and operate correctly. This information may include your privacy choice, protection preferences, activation status, usage counters, and recent safety results for the current tab. This local information is used only to provide and maintain the Services.

4. Online Link Checks

When online link checks are active and you deliberately hover an external link, that specific link destination is transmitted securely to security service providers for the limited purpose of returning link-safety information. Visible page text is not included in this request.

To show how recently a website's domain was registered, the checked link's domain name (not the full link) is also looked up in public domain-registration directories (RDAP), through the rdap.org lookup service and the registry responsible for that domain. These directories are public infrastructure, not Browser Trust Guard service providers, and handle lookups under their own terms.

Browser Trust Guard does not retain submitted links as browsing history, use them to profile you, or use them for advertising. Service providers may process the request under their own privacy terms and retention requirements.

5. Service Access and Technical Information

When the extension communicates with an online feature, network and security systems may necessarily process limited technical information, such as a network address, request time, general request metadata, verification results, and anonymous service-access or usage records. This information is used to authenticate requests, enforce usage limits, maintain reliability, investigate errors, and prevent fraud or abuse.

We do not use this technical information to identify the websites you visit or to build a browsing-history profile.

6. Information We Do Not Seek to Collect

7. How We Use Information

We process information only as reasonably necessary to provide and operate the Services; detect potentially deceptive or harmful activity; return requested safety results; remember your settings; enforce service limits; secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the Services; prevent fraud, misuse, and abuse; comply with applicable law; and protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users, Browser Trust Guard, and others.

8. When Information May Be Disclosed

We may disclose limited information to service providers that perform functions on our behalf, subject to appropriate contractual or legal restrictions. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process; investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents; enforce applicable terms; protect legal rights or safety; or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or transfer of all or part of the Services, subject to applicable law.

We do not permit service providers to use information received from Browser Trust Guard for their own advertising or unrelated profiling.

9. No Sale or Behavioral Advertising

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use browsing activity to deliver personalized advertisements. Browser Trust Guard does not operate an advertising network or a data-broker service.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

Visible page content is processed locally and is not retained by Browser Trust Guard. Submitted links are not retained by Browser Trust Guard as browsing history. Anonymous activation and monthly usage records maintained by Browser Trust Guard are scheduled for deletion after 90 days without activity. Temporary security and abuse-prevention information may be retained for a limited period appropriate to its purpose, while service providers may apply their own legally permitted retention schedules.

Removing the extension deletes information stored by the extension in browser-managed storage, subject to Chrome's normal removal and synchronization behavior. Information may be retained longer when reasonably necessary to comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or protect the Services and their users.

11. Your Choices and Controls

You may decline or disable online link checks and continue using the extension's on-device protection. You may also remove the extension at any time through Chrome. Browser and device settings may provide additional controls over extension permissions, local storage, and synchronized data.

12. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information associated with you; to object to or restrict certain processing; or to appeal a decision concerning a privacy request. Because Browser Trust Guard intentionally minimizes identifying information, we may be unable to locate or verify information that cannot reasonably be linked to you.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. Requests may be submitted through the official support contact identified on the Browser Trust Guard website or Chrome Web Store listing. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify the request and protect against fraud.

13. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. However, no extension, security product, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. A warning, safety result, or absence of a warning is not a guarantee that a website, link, message, file, or instruction is safe.

14. Third-Party Services and Websites

The Services may interact with or link to third-party services and websites. Browser Trust Guard does not control those third parties and is not responsible for their content, security, availability, or privacy practices. You should review the privacy terms of any third-party service you choose to use.

15. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Services, please contact us so that we can evaluate and address the request.

16. International Processing

The Services may be operated and supported from the United States, and service providers may process information in the United States or other countries. Privacy laws in those locations may differ from the laws where you live. Where required, information is handled using legally recognized safeguards.

17. Changes to This Privacy Notice

We may revise this Privacy Notice to reflect changes to the Services, our practices, or applicable legal requirements. The revised notice becomes effective when it is made available through the Services. Material changes will be communicated through the extension, official website, or Chrome Web Store listing when appropriate.

18. Contact and Privacy Requests

Questions, complaints, and privacy requests may be submitted through the official support contact identified on the Browser Trust Guard website or Chrome Web Store listing. Please do not include passwords, payment-card information, or other sensitive information in a privacy request.

19. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure

Browser Trust Guard's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
